About The Principal Theatre Co.

The Principal Theatre Company is a professional theatre company founded by Sarah Knight and Paul Gladwin who are now the Artistic Directors.

Their aim is to fill the gap in artistic and cultural entertainment in North London and Enfield borough in particular. They will present an annual open air Shakespeare production which will involve the whole community.

They have the full support of ex local MP and Patron Stephen Twigg, and the London Borough of Enfield. They aim to provide high quality productions in terms of professional actors and actresses, set design and stage management. They also aim to nurture local talent by offering a number of parts to local drama students, hopefully giving them a springboard to launch their careers and thus further represent the local community in the arts.

About the Directors

The Artistic Directors are North London-based actors Sarah Knight and Paul Gladwin. Both trained at the Guildford School of Acting and graduated in 1992. Between them they have performed in 19 Shakespeare productions. Paul has appeared in 6 episodes of Calton TV's Peak Practice, while Sarah has spent 6 months at regents park Open Air Theatre. She also won a Laurence Olivier Scholarship in 1991 along with Ewan McGregor. Paul and Sarah have performed in America, Italy and more recently in Barcelona and Catalunya.

Local Director Christopher Geelan, former Director with Michael Bogdanov's English Shakespeare Company, will be directing A Midsummer Nights Dream as he did with Much Ado About Nothing last year. Chris has produced and directed a dozen of the Shakespeare touring productions, which visit 125,000 theatre-goers, young and old, across the country each year. He now runs his own professional theatre companies, The Young Shakespeare Company and Theatre Unlimited, which recently finished a UK Tour of Macbeth and Measure For Measure.
